It's possible to add a motor to it, but additional parts are needed to control the motor. The kit shares the same hole spacing and shaft size as the VEX IQ and VEX EDR robotics systems, but the control systems and electronic parts are not off-the-shelf compatible. A customer bought it as an alternative to Legos for their 7-year-old grandson who loves the Vex system. Another one purchased two kits for a Building Models class at their school, but both boxes were missing the astronaut figurine pictured on the outside, which was frustrating for the kids.
